Motor Insurance Tips
Most motor insurance companies are honest and helpful.
Most car owners in the United States insure their cars through a standard insurance policy,
which should cover all legal liability should the car be involved in an accident.
In addition some policies will cover repairs to the owners own vehicle,
and provide a rented car while his own car is off the road.
There are insurance policies where you can save upto 75 percent on your insurance premium
but these may have limited cover.
Below are some tips to ensure you get the right mix of quality and price on your car insurance:
Check your existing car insurance policy - what does the policy cover
regarding repairs and services?
Review all the details and information that is written on the policy.
Are you paying for cover that you already have elsewhere? or do not need?
Most motor insurance policies will insure you
against accidental damaged to your own car and any other car.
Comprehensive insurance will pay for repairs to both vehicles damaged in an accident.
However, some claims may not be covered if the policy is not comprehensive or does not include collision cover.
When renting a car it may be worth getting a Collision Damage Waiver.
If you are then involved in an accident while driving a rented car the costs of any repairs are shifted from you to the Car Rental Company.
Some car insurance policies already inclde CDW - so it may be worth checking if you are already covered.
If you do not rent cars often then get the CDW from the rental company.
If yo drive a lot of rented vehicles it may be worth having the CDW on your own insurance rather than taking it out
each time you rentr a car.
Every car owner should have his own insurance.
and the car insurance policy should be legally licensed by the state’s insurance department.
Most insurance companies are rated according to their financial stability.
Avoid those auto insurance companies that are not rated “A” by the Best Key Rating Guide.
Make sure that the value of your motor car is reflected in the value shown on your policy
otherwise you may find that the insurers pay out much less than you expect in the case of an accident.
It is not worth inflating this valuation as the insurers will not pay out more than the car is worth.
And (from bitter experience) the value you put on your car will
be much much greater than what the insurance company will pay in the case of a total write off
or if the car is stolen.
Before taking out an insurance policy it
may be worth asking the advice of the local automobile club,
who should be able to help identify what type of insurances will suit the type of car you own.
