Selling Cars Can Be Fun
Some people think that the job of the car sales rep is dull and boring.
The truth is, these are the people who keep the motor industry alive.
When a new model is launched, it is the job of the sales rep to sell it.
Cars are a long term investments.
Since these vehicles are expensive,
customers are choosy about the features provided.
Customers will look at confort, safety and fuel efficiency.
If the dealership has the car that can provide all three,
then a good sales rep can close a deal with another satisfied customer.
This challenging job takes time and practice to build rapport with the customer.
Not everyone is good at selling cars but if you have the talent for it, then give it a go.
When a potential customer enters the shop, the sales rep knows this person is looking for a car. After some pleasantries, it’s time to get to the point.
· What kind of car does the customer want? Is it a big car for the family or just for personal use?
· Will the person do a lot of work or carry a lot of stuff?
· How much is the budget?
· What safety features should the car have?
· What is the ideal color for the car?
After getting some information, the sales rep can show what models are available that fit the requirements of the customer. This can include it the safety features, fuel consumption for city and highway driving and other amenities that come with the car.
The rep will then let the customer sit in the car to get the feel of it. Since it is not enough to just stay in the car, both can go for a test drive to see how well it performs on the road.
There are some lean days and months in the motor business. When this happens, it is time management to come up with promos that entice the customer to buy. These additional freebies could be a low payment or a zero interest plan. Some dealerships even offer a low down payment with easy terms to pay over a few years making it affordable for the customer.
A concern of most customers is the warranty on the vehicle. Should anything happen, what is covered by it? The rep can explain all this to assure the person what is covered. Just in case there are some things that are not, a service contract can also be offered.
Though this may cost a little extra for the customer, the honesty and friendliness of the rep is a good indication that the car is as good as sold.
Some customers may not decide on that day whether to drive the car off the dealer’s lot. This could take a few days to maybe a week. The rep will then give the customer a calling card then just follow up.
The motor industry makes money by selling cars. This task is accomplished by the well trained sales reps out there on the sales floor. The nice thing about being a rep is that aside from the basic pay, there is commission for every car sold. This truly makes the job the best in the motor industry.
